A mild mannered nerd in a jock’s body, digital marketing strategist, youth soccer lead trainer, coach and perpetual optimist. I believe vision can be achieved with positive, focused energy, encouragement, support, sound problem solving and teamwork. Using social and digital platforms with curiosity, adaptability and savviness, it’s no longer just a hobby, but a genuine passion driven by purpose. Inform, inspire, engage, empower and learn from your networks. I get up every morning wanting to contribute something to the world, committed to building a better working world through my own actions, and by engaging with like-minded organizations and individuals, that’s what drives me to do what I do. My interests range from entrepreneurship to social enterprise. I am also interested in business, DIY/craft, entertainment, family, animals, fashion, fitness, food, health, music, pop culture, social good, social media, sports, technology, leisure, travel and tourism.
Living and existing in a world where we should all deal with the world the way it is, not the way we wish it was, what others do is out of our control. Growing up I was neither a nerd or jock, I was both. I fell in the middle and able to fit in with most social groups, but I always felt out of place for a long period of time. Everyone at one point craves that feeling of wanting to belong. The older I get, I have come to the realization that it’s ok to fit in or not fit in, but it’s even better to just be yourself.
It is a universal concept, for example, the social life in middle and high school — dealing with cliques and bullies, even college, the workplace, and life in general. Somehow these societal cliques and social hierarchies have been created, and continue to be perpetuated. As a society we seem to just abide by these unwritten rules more so than refute them.
It does not matter if you’re popular, a cheerleader, a jock, a nerd, a skater, an outcast, emo, a hipster, or prep. Keep in mind that the term, “so-called,” should come before each one of those, “so-called,” classifications. In the end, and at it’s core, we are all one: human. Don’t drain your life, and the lives of others, when you have the power to radiate it; you can either: perpetuate negativity or be a bright spot, and beam of positivity.
It takes time and effort to learn how to not judge yourself through someone else’s eyes, but once you do the world is yours for the taking. I have grown to learn that you can either be a flame of hope or a mirror that reflects it. If you feel alone, want a place to belong, want a hand or kind word along the way, want a place to have your voice heard, and hear the voices of others, even if you’re the happiest person alive, you are always welcomed here.
Martin Lawrence — “No one is immune to the trials and tribulations of life. No one. We all have ups, and we all have downs. I mean, that’s just life. I’m not perfect. I’m only human. Important words to live by. We’re all one ’cause we’re all human, you know. We experience a lot of the same things. Just as we wake, we sleep. Just as we live, we die. That’s just life, human nature.”
Whether we like it or not, we’re more alike than different, somewhere in the world there is someone seemingly unlike us who is just like us. If we want to change the face of our future society it begins with us, our values, our conscientiousness, our humanity, our accountability, and our awareness. Children are our future, they have the power to shape our future, and change a corrupt society; it begins with us, educate them, empower them. Lead by example, our children, and our future, are watching.
We all have significance in the world: find your own path, discover your life calling, own your passion, and live true to your life purpose.
Live your life, and live it for you, not how someone else needs or wants you to. Once you realize you don’t have to prove anything to anyone, but yourself, life gets easier, clearer, more enjoyable, and makes more sense.
Wake up every morning with the idea that something wonderful is possible today.
